The business of this website is based around a charity that works in photography, cultural identity(this means what happens in ones' particular culture), peoples race(like if they are white or black), representation and human rights. And they do this internationally. It is also an educational based website because it is showing all of the work done by black photographers, who 25 years ago, wouldn't have known anything about photography.

The content of the website is some sort of world media site, showing what is happening to those people who are less fortunate than others and how they particularly live their lives.

The website isn't password protected for anything nor does it seem to have any restrictions on it, so it is my best guess, as this is the first time that I have heard of it, it is designed for the general public and for those who want to work in charities.

The website isn't selling any kind of product.

The website isn't advertising any kind of service.

Due to having no products to sell, the website doesn't have any online payment methods.

The size of the website itself is fairly small, but because it is sponsored by so many other charities, it probably branches out into a bit of a bigger site.

The website pages are pleasing to the eye because they are showing something that is really happening in the world and they use real simple colours, which don't over enhance the page. They use Red for really important info, white as the webpage background and then they use black for everything else.

The navigation of this website seems fairly straight forward, there seems to be nothing hidden and if the main webpage doesn't work, they use follow links for Facebook and Twitter.

They pages of the web turn over very quickly, but that could possible because there are no large video files on the webpage and it also depends on internet connection. If you run on the wifi, it all depends on signal strength, if its on ethernet then it all depends on connection through the cable.

All of the connected pages to the website are suitable and pleasing to use and what it is they show is what is happen to those less fortunate than others in what appears to be the Congo Free State.

All of the font styles used in this webpage are simple, easy to read and are not complicated.

I have already mentioned the background somewhere above for this particular site, but as I have said white maybe a simple colour, but it stops overcrowding what is one the page, it doesn't over do it sort of.

The images on the webpage are a good size and are clear to look at.

There are no moving graphics or parts to this particular website, and as there are none, there is nothing that is a benefit nor a hinderance.

There isn't really anything on this website that I could improve on, except they use the same colours as one of the worlds national leading banks, red, white and black which are the colours for HSBC. I would probably change to colours to something a little more vibrant, but not to extreme.

This website in particular I find okay but it isn't really the most attracting to go on and looking at and reading about people who are less fortunate about others is really hard for me, because it makes me feel like I'm the bad guy who lives a happy luxury life and there are people out there who don't even have a home to go to at the end of the day. They have to live on the street.

The business of the BBC is a worldwide news media of weather, current events, sports, travel, history, learning, science, nature and food. Playbacks of programmes from various channels, TV Programmes watched or unwatched, Radio plus many more. BBC stands for British Broadcasting Corporation.

The content of the site is WORLDWIDE MEDIA BROADBAND:

The website is designed for the general public as it is a world news website. Also these days it is classified as a highly successful educational website for people from the age of 10 upwards.

No, the BBC is not a website where products are sold.

No, there is no advertising service on the BBC website nor is there any advertising on there break commercials.

No, the BBC doesn't have any kind of payment methods, because it doesn't have any products to sell.

The BBC website in general, is one of the biggest websites in the world. The reason why it is so big, is because it covers news from all over the world. There are reporters, photographers, journalists who work for the BBc all over the world.

The BBC as a whole is a very impressive looking website, I think that it is very attracting to one's eye. Maybe this is because they use lots of different colour and different styles of colourful fonts. For a site that is one of the largest in the world, to have big bright bold words and different colours for different pages, really makes the difference.

The navigation of the BBC is one of the most simple and most easy websites possible ever created. Everything is really easy to find. If you can't find what your looking for in any of the sections of the website just use the official search engine on the webpage.

The website pages on the BBC turn over very quickly, even if they have large files to load. Maybe because loads of people use the BBC, the managers can't afford for it to be a slow website.

In all the times I have used the BBC, I have never found anything that wasn't pleasing to the eye. Of course a grand majority of the BBC's news isn't good news but I have never found anything that wasn't pleasing to look at.

The style of the fonts on all of the BBC's pages are highly acceptable and extremely easy to read. So it is the right type and style of font for the business.

All the images that I have seen on the BBC are big enough and clear to look at.

I have never seen any kind of moving graphics on the BBC Website. The moving parts are neither a benefit nor a hinderance.

As the BBC is such a huge international website, I can't think what I could add to improve it. I mean, the opening page changes everyday and possible every few hours, so it seems to be managed by a few people from time to time.

There is really one part of the BBC website that I like and that is the accuracy of the weather that it broadcasts. I don't really use it for anything else, so whether I like it or not, I can't really say.

www.bhphotovideo.com

The entire home page of website, divided up into 4 separate images.
The business of this website is completely different to what the previous two have had as a business purpose. This website is actually a product selling website of various bits and pieces liked with cameras, electrics and many other cool gadgets liked with computers and cameras.

The content of this website is an enormous electrical product selling website.

The website is designed for a global audience. Anyone can use it.

Yes, the website is selling a product.

No, the website is displaying any kind of advertising service.

Yes, the website does have online payment methods. Any current website that sells products generally have to have online payment methods.

As the website has so many different electronics and products available and that can be bought from all over the world, it seems to be quite a big website. Its basically providing a service and most service providing websites are quite big.

Yes, I believe that the pages of this particular website look very pleasing to the minds eye. The colours that they use. The newest model of items displayed on the front page. The examples images of what all these amazing items can do.

Yes the website is extremely easy to navigate. Practically every icon has a link with in it to a certain extent and takes you to exactly where you need to go.

In the last couple times that I have been on the website, all of the pages turn over very quickly and like the auto-graph website, because it isn't gathering info from other places, it all internal and there fore the webpages turn over very quickly.

The connected pages of this website have always been very pleasing and suitable to my eye each time I have looked at it. There isn't anything not suitable on this website that I have seen and it seems a fairly appropriate website to use. Not to mention a very useful website to use.

The style of fonts on this website are very suitable for the business. Tying in with the answer to next question which is about the use of a background, for this particular website the two different points are sort of one in the same. The white background doesn't obstruct or desaturate the different colours and styles and sizes of fonts used. Yes most people would agree that White isn't always the best colour to use on websites, but it is the one background colour that doesn't upset the balance of things on it.

The images of the items on the website, could probably be a little bigger, but as the quality of the images currently are so clear then there really isn't that much of a problem with them.

The next two questions, tie in together. They're about the moving graphics to the website. There are no moving graphics to this website.

How could I improve this website. Tricky question, because it has got so much stuff on it and it is really impressive looking and has lots of stuff to offer, I don't really know what I could do to add on to it.

I very much like this website, as it is my kind of website. A website where you can find all sorts of handy technical equipment, gadgets and gizmos and its just a really clever and cool looking website, with lots to offer in many different aspects.

Out of all 3 of these different websites:
Out of these three mandatory websites that we had to research through, I would say that the bhphotovideo.com has probably been the most interesting and creative website to look through. Not because its got all of the things on in it that I like, but because it is a really well laid out website. The images are good, along with the fonts and their different styles and sizes.

7 websites of my choice:

16/09/14
www.marinetraffic.com/en/

The business that this website concerns itself with is that it is a website which allows you to search and track certain vessels that are big and important and particularly registered with AIS.

The content of this website is basically a website which observes the movements and current positioning of vessels, registered with AIS.
AIS = Automatic Identification System.

This particular website is designed for anyone, who just wants to search for vessels and check their current locations, however if you want to become part of marine traffic to a further extent then you have to sign up for it and if you are a marine person, then having this particular website is really useful to have.

No, MarineTraffic doesn't offer any kind of products to sell. Neither does it have any kind of online payment methods available, nor does it offer any kind of advertising service.

Like the BBC, marinetraffic.com is one of these sites that is run globally and therefore, it is a very large website and has lots of data installed inside it. Any kind of vessel that is too small won't pop up on marine traffic, but you can find more a less any kind of vessel in the world, ranging from a small tug boat to a vast cruise ship.

The website pages on marine traffic are some of the most clever looking I have ever come across. The Live map system makes it all the more interesting to look at. And just like google maps there are a number of options to view the maps. RoadMap, Satellite, Hybird, Terrain and simple mode.

Marine Traffic is fairly easy to navigate, but a lot of pop up windows do block the view of some things.  so you just have to watch out, however I personally seem to have never had any kind of problem finding my way around the marine traffic website.

On marine traffic, with the pages turning over from one to the other, it all depends on how strong your internet connection is. Because marine traffic is a live map website, it is constantly loading data, so to answer the question why do I think they turn over slowly is because, its a live map and needs strong internet in order to function fully.

The connected pages are very suitable and pleasing to look at. Most of marine traffic is the colour blue so it's not to complicated to look at and I have never found anything on the website that looks inappropriate.

Tying the next two questions together, the style of fonts and the background colour are very suitable for the type of business that marine traffic is and because the main colours are blue, navy blue and white, there isn't too much of a complication on the website.

The images on this particular website, are fantastic quality. Even if they take a little time to load because the website is a live data loading website.

There are no moving graphics to this website, so there fore they are neither a benefit nor a hinderance.

How could I improve this website, well thats a tough question because it is such an advanced website and it is used by a lot of professional people, I don't really know what I could improve.

I very much like this website. It is extremely handy for me and as I am a marine person, it is useful to look for certain vessels across the globe and seeing what sort of photos of the particular vessel have been published.
www.gibraltarport.com

Images of the front page of Gibraltar port Authority & a page of one of the cruise terminal Schedule.
The business of this website is divided up into a variety of different things. It gives details of what is happening within the marina, like new notifications, if they are putting a new policy in place or setting something special in place. They show a map of current tides and weather, the schedules of various cruise liners that are going to be in port and then they have a link to marine traffic to show which vessels are currently in port.

The content of this website is primarily a map and schedule system for the port and mariner of Gibraltar.

The website is designed for those who work in a marine environment and also those who are involved with working within a port or a marina. I got into using it, because it tells me when specific vessels are in the port and when they arrive and depart.

The Gibraltar port Authority site isn't selling any kind of products, nor does it have any kind of online payment methods on it, not does it have any kind of advertising service.

The size of the gibraltar port website is a little bit unknown, because Gibraltar is such a small place, you would think that here wasn't much to say on the matter but actually Gibraltar is one of Europe's most important ports in the the nation, a lot happens in the port and therefore the website is actually quite big in certain aspects.

Every time I have used the port website I have always found the webpages very pleasing to my eye. The website, like marine traffic, don't over crowed it different things and don't use to many different colours and fonts.

This website is very easy to navigate. All of their options are all of the left hand side and all of them have different sub headings within. This is probably the easiest website that I have ever had to navigate my way through.

Yes these pages turn over very quickly on this website, with the accepting of the marine traffic link because that is running through a live continuous data transmission.

Yes, all of the connected pages are pleasing and suitable to use.

The style of fonts and the background colours for this particular website, are I think really suitable and don't obstruct anything with anything else.

The Images are perfect to view on this particular website.

There are no moving graphics to this website and therefore they are neither a benefit nor a hinderance,

How could I improve this website, well for this particular website there is one thing that I think I could improve on. I would make it a mobile website. A lot of websites these days come with a mobile version, which enable it to work on a smartphone, tablet or iPad. If you can see in the top corner of this website there is a little icon shape which is the the logo of the website. If I could improve this website, then I would use this particular icon and make a mobile version of this website.

I very much like this website. Reason being is becasue it was very handy for me when I was working for the cruise terminal tours company. I was able to check to see what sort of ships were coming into gibraltar and how long they would be in port for.
http://arboretapapers.co.uk

Arboreta Papers Home Page, Products page and Contact Details page
This business of this particular website is concerned as an art supply store.

The content of the website, is a product selling website of art supplies and sketch supplies.

This website is designed for anyone who works with or works with anything close connected to art.

As I mentioned in the first sentence, this website IS a product selling website.

This website does not have any kind of advertising service linked with it.

Strangely and surprisingly, this website that sells art products, does not have any kind of online payment methods. You have to go to their store and pay them directly, with either cash or cheque.

A general view of this particular website, shows that it is a particularly small website, that basis itself on selling art supplies.

The webpages of this particular website are very pleasing to the eye, its because it is a very simple looking website. All of the connected pages from the home page of this particular website are also pleasing to the eye. The backgrounds and colours are very simple which doesn't make this particular website too over complicated. The fonts are also good for this particular website. Not too big and not too over styled.

The website is very easy to navigate as there are only four connected pages from the home page.

To improve this website, there is one thing I can think of that I would improve. I would probably have some images of the products that are on sale from this particular company.

I do like this website, as it has been very handy for me whilst I have been at college.

The pages of this website turn over very quickly as there are no images or moving graphics to it. so there is no hinderance or benefit relating to this particular aspect of this website.

www.amazon.co.uk

Amazon Home Page

Amazon, one of the world's biggest online product selling companies. It is a business website of any kind of products you, in person need to help you with things.

The content of this website is a worldwide online product selling company.

The website is designed for anyone across the globe.

Yes, like Arboreta Papers, Amazon is an online product selling website.

Strangely enough, amazon is the first website, I have researched, that has little advertisements along the side of it and they seem to be of things not related to amazon. So to answer this question, Amazon does have some sort of small advertising service.

Yes, Amazon does have online payment methods for all of their products available.

Amazon, being one of the worlds top online product selling companies is a very big website. Its one of the worlds worldwide product selling websites.

The webpages of amazon are very pleasing to the eye of the viewer, as the moderators seem to use attractive subheadings with creative looking fonts and bright attractive colours. The connected pages are also very pleasing to use and look at. The fonts, backgrounds and colours are all very easy to look through and are not making the website difficult to look at.

Amazon is a very easy website to navigate. If you ever get lost, simply just type the website into the search engine bar and you will go straight back to the home page of the website.

The webpages turn over quickly or slowly, due to internet connection. As there are lots and lots of images of products and other things on amazon, they take up a lot of space. Images are very pleasing and big enough to look at because recently they seem to have a system, if you drag the screen cursor over the particular image, you can see it in a bigger size.

There are no moving graphics to this website, so therefore there is no benefit or hinderance to the website due to moving graphics.

As amazon is such a huge worldwide website, there isn't really anything I can think of that I could improve to the website.

I very much do like amazon. It has never let me down on any occasion, when I have jus been looking for something specific nor when I have actually ordered something.

http://www.bristolferry.com/

Bristol Ferry Boats HomePage and daily service timetable.
The business of this website is concerned with their ferry boat service and private functions around bristol floating harbour.

The content of this websites, basically shows what the bristol ferry boats are available for and what their timetable service is.

The website is designed for anyone, mainly tourists visiting bristol and locals who use the ferries of and frequent basis.

No this website is not selling any kind of product. However they do show what their prices are on the boats for daily service and for their private functions. Also, there is no online payment methods on this website.

There is no kind of advertising service on the bristol ferry boats website,

The bristol ferry boats website in general is a rather small website, for when you are looking at it from a worldwide view, but if you are a local Bristol person, then it is one of the most important websites for Bristol.

This website is very pleasing to the viewers eye and so are the connected pages of different sections of this website. Maybe because they use bright colours. Appropriate font styles and colours and simple clear backgrounds.

Being one of bristol city's main websites it is extremely easy to navigate. All of the selection options are on the left hand side and have sub headings leading off them.

There are a few images on Bristol ferry boats website and they are quite clear to look at but they can't go any bigger than what you can already see on the screen, so for someone who doesn't have very good eyesight, it would probably be a little bit tricky to see the images,

There are no moving graphics to this website.

As Bristol Ferry Boats is such a large charity community and they include everything said on their website in brochures and on board their boats, I don't really know what I could do to make it any better.

I love this website. You can find all of the information you want very quickly, without having to look very deeply. Everything that they offer on their website is very easy to find and the people who make it all the better are the ones who run the ferry service and their passengers.

www.photobpx.co.uk

Photobox HomePage

Photobox, Book making page

Photobox iPhone and Tablet Cases making page.
The business of this website that it concerns itself with a huge photo product selling company, of a huge variety of different things.

The content of this website is a worldwide photo creating website of different things.

The website is designed for anyone who specifically wants to work in photography and create things with their own photographs. For example, I have used it on many occasions and have created photo books, mugs and a couple of iphone cases.

Yes, this website is a product selling website and it does have online payment methods and it does have some sort of advertising service of your persons work. If you set it up properly, you can actually set up a link to advertise your work and sell it online through the advertising service.

Photobox is a UK based website and mainly does things based in England, but it does post things to people worldwide and therefore it is quite a large website.

Photobox is very pleasing to the viewer's eye and so are all of the connected pages of the website. The website uses creative style fonts with highlighted colours and simple backgrounds with markings to show the different options.

The website is very easy to navigate. In their top search bar they have all of the different things that you can create and order from them. You create everything with them online and they even have a simulator, like preview to show what your create product will look like once you have ordered and received it.

The pages turn over fairly quickly, but because there are a few large images and a couple of moving graphics and all depending on your internet connection, the webpages will turn over slightly slowly.

The moving graphics, well there are only a couple and they are very beneficial for looking at certain products on this site. The mugs and I think the iphone, ipad and tablet cases.

What could I do to improve this website. Well each time I have used Photobox, they have always sent me a survey of what their service was like and I have never been disappointed with their work, so I don't really think that there is anything I could do to improve Photobox.

I very much like photobox, they have assisted me with a lot of my projects ever since I was 17 and I have not once been disappointed by the work that they have done for me.

www.vistaprint.co.uk

VistPrint Home Page

VistPrint Business card creating page:
The business of this website, is based around advertising ones self in various different ways. Mainly business cards and websites.

The content of VistaPrint is a self creating advertising service, in many different methods.

The website is designed for anyone who wants help in want to advertise themselves in different ways. In the format of business cards, poster and photos.

Yes, VistaPrint is an online product selling website, it does have online payment methods and it does have advertising services.

VistaPrint is a huge international website so in general it is a very large website.

I think that website pages did use to be very pleasing to the viewer's eye and I also think that the connected pages are also very pleasing and suitable to view. However now, the website just looks a little bit bland.

VistaPrint, just like PhotoBox, is very easy to navigate with all of the different options in the top bar search line.

The pages do turn over pretty quickly, but just like PhotoBox, if you are importing large files, the loading time can take up to about a couple to 5 minutes.

The style of fonts, background colours and other things are very suitable for this particular website, but as I said at the beginning, I think that the site now looks a little bland to what it use to be. There aren't as many attracting mixtures of the colour in the fonts.

The images of what you can see are big enough to look at, but if they are too big then they will take a little time to load properly.

There are no moving graphics to this website, so there are no benefits or hinderance to that particular area.

To what I could improve for this website, I would personally put a bit more colour in some of the different styles of fonts used.

I do like VistaPrint and they, like PhotoBox have been very handy for me to create things that I need, like business cards for me as myself.

Which website out these 10 is my favourite:
I must say that it is a tie between GibraltarPortAuthority and MarineTraffic. Both have been very handy for me to see where particular ships are and what is operating in certain ports and what ship is in that particular part of the world.

HTML Basics:
How to write and design the Coding of websites:

Explanation of this exercise:
Quite an interesting little exercise, before we had the luxury use of automatic website making, individuals had to create websites and pages within it, using a complicated code system and then formatting words to link to the code system and then finally you have your website.

Dreamweaver, Website creation application:

Evaluation of this little Exercise:
This was quite an interesting little exercise. In the past when I have gone onto websites, I have always assumed that they were quite simple and easy to design, but how wrong was I. It is like a whole different ball game when you are trying to create a website from scratch. If you do it all by hand and without the help of the clever programmes, like dreamweaver it is like trying to put together a whole range of different code formats and then adding in the words of what you want your website to show.
You have to write out all of the specific codes, with their certain specific format layouts and then the words that you want your website to display. If you have the magic of dreamweaver, then all of the codes and their certain specific layout formats are set up automatically for you. All you have to do is where out the words and input the pictures and graphics that you want.

About Me:

Where I have Travelled:

Explanation of this task: Our goal for this task was to draw from scratch, three different kinds of webpage for the certain website that us as the individual wanted to have for ourselves.

Evaluation of this task: Quite a few years ago I was given a small introduction to dreamweaver and how to design layout formats for websites, by just drawing them out on a piece of paper and now I have been introduced to it again. These three different pages may have a very similar layout, but I can assure you that they all have their very own unique display. I did quite enjoy drawing out these wireframes because I could feel and see the vision inside my mind of what I wanted my website to look like. I will be honest I have never been really good at drawing out websites, but this time I feel like it will all go according to my designs.

Dreamweaver Exercise:

The Task: The task was to use Alan's guise from dreamweaver from before and recreate the website to the design on the handout.

ScreenShots of Task:

Evaluation of this Task:
Personally this was quite a challenge. So as to be able to get the exact duplicate of the website on the handout, I had to follow the instructions buy the letter. As there were quite a lot of different instructions and formats that I had to adopt in the same way as the hand out, It was quite a challenge. I would say that the most tricky part was the size of the writing for the biographies of each artist and the selection of artists. Every time I tried to change the writing of the biography text, the menu selection text would change as well. I was eventually told to just leave it the way that it was and just work from there. I also had the exact same problem with the size of text with the individual's name and the years that they were alive. I eventually found me way around this ben by copying the code from other code pages and using their format for the other pages. The only other hard part was the linking of the mini photographs to the big one in the centre of the webpage. There was no particular challenge with this but it eventually worked out. I did something very similar to this  about 4 years ago, when I did one of my GCSE I.C.T coursework pieces, which was website design.
Quite an interesting task, but with quite a few challenges. Not something I am really keen to do in a rich but I know that we will be doing our own website design very soon.

Date: 17/12/2014

Designing my own website:
for this task we have to research 3 different FREE websites that are designed to create new websites.
These are 3 different examples: www.wix.com, www.moonfruit.com & www.weebly.com

Here is what they all look like:

My Wix designed website.

Website design has always been a negative thing for me. Even though I did it a few of years ago, I just never really understood how it all worked. How to programme and format all the different codes, the layout systems, all of it was just really confusing for me. It was basically doing at all the old fashioned way, all from scratch.
This time, I had a handy assistant. The Internet. These days all of the hard parts are now for you. All the programming and all the formatting is done for you automatically. All you have to do, is design the website to how you would like it to be. Like drawing on a piece of paper.

Evaluation of Website Unit:
Well in the entire 2 year process of the BTEC course, the one unit I thought that was going to give me the most trouble, I have managed to finish without too much of a fuss. We started this unit back in early September, where we started researching 10 different websites. It is quite hard to believe that it has taken five months to get to this point. This unit hasn't been completely hard pushing for me, but there are definitely some parts of the unit that I wouldn't like to repeat and some parts of it, that I am really happy with and now I'm feeling confident about it, if I had to something similar to this again.

Link to My Website.
http://tomkirrage.wix.com/internationalphotos2

Unit Evaluation;
There are still a few units to get through until the course comes to an end. Many of the ones that we have already done have presented us with challenges, but I have managed to get through them with flying colours. As I said in my evaluation above, this particular unit was one that I had dreaded for a long time. Maybe because I had such a bad experience with it before and just kept on carrying thing the negative thoughts about it. This time, I got a good feeling out of this unit and I feel much more comfortable with website design.
